Video – OpenBOM Cloud Services and REST API

In this video, I’d like to talk about OpenBOM cloud services. A cloud service is a software service you can consume either via the internet or mobile application or via API (typically REST API). There are tons of cloud services online in consumer and business applications (weather, traffic, stocks, etc.)

Cloud services are a term that started to show up more often as PLM vendors are moving to the SaaS model. Although, PLM marketing is taking its own toll on the “cloud services” name, and sometimes it can be very confusing.

OpenBOM is a cloud service by itself and can be used online via an internet browser. You can register for free and start using OpenBOM today. Here is the link (openbom.com).

OpenBOM cloud service is also available online via REST API to any OpenBOM paid subscription (openbom.com/pricing). You can purchase OpenBOM subscription and use OpenBOM REST API to integrate with OpenBOM services and build applications consuming data from OpenBOM or storing data in OpenBOM for cost calculation, purchasing, and many other reasons.

For more information about OpenBOM REST API, navigate here.

Conclusion

Devil is in details. When somebody is marketing you SaaS applications and cloud services, check how to create an account and how to get access to REST API.  OpenBOM has many existing integrations built using cloud services and REST API. Check the list of integrations here.  You can access OpenBOM cloud services using REST API and build your own applications or integrate your applications with the data stored in OpenBOM. You can bring the data from your applications to calculate the cost, manage inventory, or plan production, and purchase.

Please contact me directly to discuss how you can use OpenBOM cloud services in your applications.
