What is it?

Engineers and companies don’t work in a vacuum. There are many existing systems that are used by engineers and manufacturers – CAD, PDM, PLM, ERP, MES, among others. With a growth in SaaS business, manufacturers often use SaaS software as well. Such companies operate software that has been developed for a long time.

A company’s ability to use and integrate such applications strongly suggests that they would be able to quickly and easily implement OpenBOM into their business. Seamless integration has a direct impact on overall work efficiency.

Integration capabilities include functions that allow you to view OpenBOM applications (or data) embedded and integrated.

Why do you need it?

Information flow efficiency is an especially important element of every engineering and manufacturing environment. Without efficient integration and information handover, it will be very difficult for companies to integrate the new software with their old data streams. Therefore, automatic data handover simplifies the way a company uses the software and also eliminates the need to manually transfer data on a daily basis.

Manual integrations are painful, prone to errors, and also take time. Thus, all engineers and manufacturing companies are looking at how to automate data handover between applications. Once the system is integrated, everything is automatically updated and data handover becomes a seamless process.

Why is OpenBOM different?

OpenBOM’s strategy is to develop immersive integrations between all design, engineering, and manufacturing enterprise applications.

Learn about OpenBOM integrations here and what is available.

OpenBOM has many available applications that are ready to be integrated with your OpenBOM account. OpenBOM cloud service is available online via REST API that can be integrated with OpenBOM services to build applications for cost calculation, purchasing, etc. These applications can be developed by either the customer or by OpenBOM.

OpenBOM provides integrations with desktop and cloud systems. Also. OpenBOM allows embedding user interface components into other systems (eg. Autodesk Fusion 360. Onshape, NetSuite, etc.)

How does it work?

OpenBOM provides many integrations with desktop applications, cloud services and enterprise/ legacy applications (PDM, PLM, ERP, MES, etc.)

There are three main groups of integrations:

  1. Out-of-the-box integrations included in OpenBOM subscriptions (eg. CAD add-ins). Check the Integration link.
  2. Out-of-the-box integrations provided via additional subscriptions (eg. PDM, NetSuite, etc.)
  3. Custom integrations are developed based on the customer’s requirements. The integrations can be developed for a specific customer or provided by an OpenBOM partner – vdR Nexus.

Out-of-the-box integrations are available for download immediately. Custom applications can be developed based on customers’ requirements and provided quickly.

First, the requirements need to be defined, and then they will be provided as a service. Contact support at openbom dot com for more information.
