OpenBOM Live Demo – Autodesk Fusion 360 Integration

In my article today, I’d like to explore the seamless integration of OpenBOM and Autodesk Fusion 360. In the dynamic world of design and manufacturing, efficient collaboration and data management are essential for success. At OpenBOM, our vision is flexibility, integration, and simplicity. All these characteristics come together well when we integrate OpenBOM with the Autodesk platform and Autodesk Fusion360.

OpenBOM, coupled with Autodesk Fusion 360, offers a powerful solution to streamline these processes. In this live demonstration, we will delve into the seamless integration of OpenBOM with Fusion 360, highlighting key features and functionalities that enhance BOM management, calculation, and ordering processes.

Simple BOM Creation and Attribute Settings:

Experience how OpenBOM simplifies the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Fusion 360. We’ll showcase intuitive workflows for defining attributes such as part numbers, quantities, and descriptions, allowing for comprehensive BOM management directly from your design environment.

Calculation Examples (Cost, Weight, etc.):

Witness the power of real-time calculations within OpenBOM. We’ll explore scenarios where you can instantly calculate costs, weights, and other relevant metrics based on the data stored in your BOM. This feature provides valuable insights into the impact of design decisions on the overall product.

Generation of Unique Part Numbers:

Learn how OpenBOM automates the generation of unique part numbers, eliminating the need for manual tracking and ensuring consistency across your projects. With customizable naming conventions, you can configure part numbers using the Catalog Part Number setup function.

Integration with Fusion 360 Manage:

Discover how OpenBOM seamlessly integrates with Fusion 360 Manage, Autodesk’s solution for PDM. We’ll demonstrate how data synchronization between OpenBOM and Fusion 360 Manage facilitates collaboration across teams and ensures data integrity throughout the product life cycle.

BOM Options:

Explore advanced BOM options offered by OpenBOM, such as the ability to exclude specific components from the BOM or designate assemblies as purchased items. These features provide flexibility in managing complex assemblies and support accurate procurement processes.

Ordering Process (RFQ / PO):

Experience the end-to-end ordering process facilitated by OpenBOM. From generating Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to issuing Purchase Orders (POs), we’ll demonstrate how OpenBOM streamlines procurement workflows, saving time and reducing errors associated with manual processes.

Video Demonstration

Note: Autodesk Eagle  (Correction)

Mistakes can happen. We misguide you in the demo that OpenBOM doesn’t have an integration with Eagle. Actually, we do have integration with both “old” Autodesk Eagle and also integrated with Autodesk Fusion360 (Electronics). OpenBOM supports both.

Conclusion:

The less is more. This is a vision we live by. The simplicity is a main factor that defines our path in B2B software.

OpenBOM transcends traditional PLM and BOM management by offering a comprehensive suite of features that empower teams to efficiently manage data, navigate the product life cycle, perform calculations, and streamline ordering processes. This live demo will showcase how OpenBOM and Fusion 360 together provide a unified platform for seamless collaboration and enhanced productivity. Join us to explore the future of integrated design and manufacturing workflows with OpenBOM.
