OpenBOM for Fusion 360 Enhancements: Drawing in PDFs and Fusion Manage Connection

The development of seamless integrations with different design and engineering systems is one of the fundamental core values of OpenBOM. Connecting engineering information into a single multi-disciplinary Bill of Materials (BOM) helps to build a single source of truth in engineering organizations and establish a digital thread between multiple pieces of information and systems.

Fusion360 and Autodesk Platform Service Integration

OpenBOM is strategically connected to multiple Autodesk design systems, including Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, and broadly to Autodesk Platform Services.

OpenBOM for Autodesk Fusion360 Enhancements

Following the amazing success and adoption of Fusion 360 in the industry, we are continuously focusing on improving our integration with Fusion 360 to bring value to Autodesk and our common customers. I’m super excited to share the latest coming enhancements in Fusion 360: PDF drawing and Fusion 360 Manage data integration.

PDF Drawing Automatic Generation and Attachment

We are automatically generating drawing PDFs and attaching them to OpenBOM’s Digital BOM structure. This feature helps make information available seamlessly downstream and maintains traceability of information.

New Drawing settings will allow export drawings automatically to PDF format.

Exported drawings are automatically attached to Item records (thanks to OpenBOM flexible data model

Fusion Manage Integration Data Integration

Autodesk Fusion Manage is part of Autodesk Fusion 360 and provides release management and other lifecycle management capabilities. Thanks to recent API enhancements, we can now expose data from Fusion 360 Manage directly in OpenBOM. Information such as Item Number, Lifecycle, and others will be available seamlessly in OpenBOM.

Here are new settings allowing you to connect Fusion 360 Manage properties to OpenBOM.

And this is the outcome- Fusion Manage attributes directly exposed to OpenBOM. It connects Fusion360 Release process with OpenBOM flow.

Demo and Video

The updates will be coming in the next OpenBOM production update. Stay tuned for a detailed walkthrough via video and a glimpse into the enhancements through a few screenshots.

Conclusion

Seamless integration of engineering information is a key element of digital transformation. By extending OpenBOM capabilities and integration, we help customers improve information availability, connectivity, and traceability.
