NEW: OpenBOM Onboarding Service Will Take You From A Chaos to a Digital State

Last year was a year that demonstrated the incredible power of digital tools and SaaS technologies we’re developing at OpenBOM. When engineers and manufacturing companies were forced to move to remote locations and work from home, OpenBOM tools enabled seamless availability, data sharing, and collaboration from any location in the world via the browser with no installation and special configuration. OpenBOM was designed to be a native cloud tool to support engineers and manufacturing companies working from different places and for different companies.

However, the tool itself doesn’t solve a problem. When it comes to a company onboarding into the digital future, escaping Excel nightmare, and moving towards digital processes using connected data, the question about the learning and transition is critical. Many companies asked us about how can we help them in the process of moving from an “unorganized state” to a “digital organization”. And as much as it might sound like a simple task it is not. The learning and transition process complexity is especially important when people are involved. Old bad habits are dying hard, so to ensure, people are up to speed with new processes and tools.

After learning from many examples of OpenBOM customers moving from the chaos to the organized digital data state, we developed a methodology that can help us to recognize typical use cases and to help companies to move from their existing state of affairs to gather existing data, clean it, prepare to be loaded to OpenBOM and preparing processes of working with a new tools

I’m excited to share with you that NEW Onboarding Service will become available beginning 1-Feb-2021. The purpose of the onboarding service is to help you with everything that needed to move from your current state to OpenBOM. The Onboarding Service will include 3 live meetings with the OpenBOM support specialist to help you to learn OpenBOM and take you through the first important steps of implementation and OpenBOM adoption. This service will be available for OpenBOM Annual Professional Team and Company Subscriptions only.

What you can expect from the process? Let me give you a list of topics and activities, we will help you to cover during these meetings.

1- Hands-on OpenBOM Onboarding Course

We will take you through the main concepts of OpenBOM products, data architecture, and tools. It is a unique opportunity to speed up the learning curve and ask all questions you want to ask from the beginning. It saves tons of time and questions many self-implementing customers are facing by contacting online support and learning from online help materials and videos.

2- Identify Data Samples

We will help you to make an analysis of the existing data assets and materials and help you to build the first data set you will be using to explore OpenBOM functions. The outcome of this process will be your homework to discuss with your colleagues and prepare information to be used – CAD files, Excels, databases, and others.

3- Import Data Samples

OpenBOM provides you an out of box tools to import data from CAD systems, Excel files, and other data sources. Even so, the devil is in details. We will help you and handhold you during the process of data import, will help to identify possible problems, how to eliminate them, and to make data import seamless. You will end up with the small, but ready to be used data set in OpenBOM.

4- Team and Processes

Old habits are dying hard. Therefore, it is extremely important to set up a team and processes ready to be used differently.  We will help you to identify roles, data access levels, and how to invite people to OpenBOM and help them to adapt to new tasks. The value of digital tools is growing exponentially when an entire organization is using these tools. OpenBOM Team and Company subscriptions are not limiting you in the number of users, so it is extremely important to bring everyone on board.

Once the onboarding process is complete, we will help you to identify the next steps to develop the system adoption, integration with additional tools, and bringing an extended team, suppliers, and contractors to OpenBOM. As part of this process, we will help you to identify possible OpenBOM Consultants and Partners to help you moving forward.

Conclusion

The New OpenBOM onboarding service is a compilation of all the best practices we accumulated during the last few years working with thousands of engineers, manufacturing, and construction companies implementing OpenBOM. To inspire you, I’d encourage you to read OpenBOM G2 reviews and OpenBOM User Stories online.
