NEW: OpenBOM for Autodesk Eagle

Modern products are often a combination of mechanical and electronic components. Electronic wrapped in plastic or smartphones on wheels. You probably heard it before. At OpenBOM, we are working on how to help manufacturing companies and engineers to work with multi-disciplinary Bill of Materials combining mechanical parts and electronics together.

Today, I want to preview a new plug-in, which will become available in the next OpenBOM release – Autodesk Eagle. If you work with electronics and PCB design you should know the tool.

OpenBOM integration will cover functional aspects – create a catalog from Eagle library and create a Bill of Materials from the project (schematics).

Watch a short video that will give you an idea about what is coming.

Conclusion.

Multi-disciplinary BOM helps to organize information about all elements of the product – mechanical, electronic, software, labor, etc. OpenBOM flexible data management allows you to organize the data, instantly share it with the team (a-la Google Docs), make cost rollups and finally create purchase orders.

Best, Oleg @ openbom.

Let’s get to know each other better. If you live in the Greater Boston area, I invite you for a coffee together (coffee is on me). If not nearby, let’s have a virtual coffee session — I will figure out how to send you a real coffee.
