OpenBOM User Experience Improvements – Item Info Panel and Part Search

The first video is about improvements in full-text search in part search dashboard. The current OpenBOM search includes default fuzziness option switched on, which often can create more results expected by users. While initially, we thought it is a good option, we decided to tune it down and change the command…

In the next release, anything you type in part search dashboard will be using an exact match algorithm. To bring back “fuzziness” you will be able to use “~” before the text.

Check the following video for the demo of the search match and fuzziness option.

The next user experience improvement was done in the OpenBOM information panel. We’ve been working to improve it also appearance and features. So far we almost made it in the previous release. Although few options went off such as 1/ filter for properties in the catalog; 2/ visual appearance of catalog properties in the info panel.

In the coming release, we are going to improve the information panel experience. The following video shows you new Item information appearance as well as the search option in the catalog. Also, we simplified copy/paste from the information panel.

Conclusion.

Small things matter and we are listening to our customers. What looks and feels like a small improvement, in fact, can be a big deal if it simplifies your operations every day.

Please let me know if you feel some minor improvements can make a big difference for you. We always want to learn, because of small things matter
