OpenBOM CAD Integration Toolkit

CAD integration is key to streamlining the manufacturing process. The foundation of all engineering processes starts with the CAD environment. This is where the initial set of information about the product is coming from. And this is where OpenBOM comes in. From the very beginning of OpenBOM development, we built robust integrations allowing our customers to seamlessly import information from popular MCAD and ECAD systems. These integrations give you a way to manage files, perform one-click BOM extraction, and support a bidirectional data exchange between the OpenBOM data platform and CAD environment.

OpenBOM out-of-the-box CAD integrations for cloud and desktop

OpenBOM includes business logic as well as a user interface fully integrated with the CAD environment. Here are a few examples of OpenBOM integrations.

OpenBOM for Desktop CAD (eg. Solidworks)

OpenBOM for Cloud CAD (eg. Onshape)

OpenBOM AECBOM for Autodesk Revit

You can learn more about CAD integrations in our training library.

OpenBOM CAD Integrations Toolkit

For the last few years, we gathered a lot of experience in building CAD integrations with OpenBOM and would like to extend our integration efforts and release CAD Integration Toolkit to help companies and other partners to develop their own custom OpenBOM integrations.

OpenBOM CAD integration toolkit documentation is using the Swagger Hub environment with guidance on how to use API and allows you to test and experiment with all OpenBOM Integration functionality. OpenBOM is providing dedicated support to all partners using CAD integration toolkit.

Conclusion

OpenBOM provides a rich set of integrations with popular MCAD, ECAD, and PCB design tools. Check more on our integration page. To extend our integration effort, OpenBOM created a CAD integration toolkit that is available to all OpenBOM partners and customers under a special agreement to allow the development of OpenBOM integrations. It will allow everyone to develop integrations to the extended set of CAD applications and tools with customized functionality.
