As we approach the close of the year, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude and best wishes for the holiday season. This is a special time for reflection, connection, and celebration, and we’re thrilled to share it with our growing OpenBOM community.

Time for Family and Loved Ones

The holidays remind us of what truly matters: spending quality time with our families, friends, and loved ones. It’s a time to step back from the busy time of daily life, recharge, and share moments of joy and warmth with those closest to us. I’m spending the time with my boys on the slopes of mountains in Maine and it is chilly here at -18C.

Reflecting on 2024 and Planning Ahead

This season is also a time for reflection. Looking back, I’m super proud of what the OpenBOM Team achieved together in 2024. It has been a year of innovation, problem-solving, and exciting milestones for OpenBOM and our users. At the same time, we’re looking forward to 2025 with a sense of growing purpose, guided by our commitment to solving critical problems for our customers helping them to digitally transform their engineering and manufacturing processes across multiple geographies, times, and disciplines. OpenBOM is growing up to support the product development process for many customers connecting business systems and the entire product lifecycle improving quality management and supply chain.

Bringing Peace and Joy in 2025

While we are busy with technologies and customers on a daily basis, let me take a moment to reflect on the need to bring people together. Regardless of the location, nationality, and political belief, let me wish for common sense to prevail in this world. In the spirit of the season, let’s all strive to bring peace and joy to those around us, whether it’s through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply being present.

OpenBOM in 2024: A Year in Retrospect

As we look back on 2024, we’re thrilled to celebrate some of the highlights that have defined our main milestones of the OpenBOM journey this year:

Growing Data Management Platform Capabilities
OpenBOM has taken significant steps in evolving as a comprehensive data management platform. We’ve expanded our services to connect engineering, manufacturing, and operations with more precision and ease than ever before. A data modeling capabilities such as custom objects, advanced “object references” properties, and analytical queries helped our customers and partners to build a more robust and advanced solutions.

Enhancing File Management and PDM Functions
2024 saw major upgrades to our document management and product data management (PDM) functionalities, providing our users with robust tools to manage CAD data, streamline collaboration, and ensure seamless workflows. It is quickly becoming an important element of OpenBOM PLM solutions. OpenBOM Design Projects with advanced and improved Smart Sync capabilities allowed our customers to manage a growing amount of files, help to collaborate and manage CAD files in a distributed, flexible, simple, yet robust way.

Introducing xBOM and Expanding Lifecycle Support
This year, we launched a very important product lifecycle management (PLM) capabilities – xBOM service, giving users the flexibility to manage complex product structures while extending lifecycle support across the enterprise. The xBOM is a critical element of advanced PLM software and it is a game-changer for the OpenBOM PLM system, enabling tailored views and connections to allow to management of product data across multiple lifecycles starting from requirements and engineering, continuing to production and manufacturing, and ending up with maintenance and sales. Such a unique function with the level of simplicity delivered by OpenBOM provides a fast ROI combined with the ability to accelerate business processes for our customers.
