Introducing AECBOM and Autodesk Revit Add-in

We are excited to bring the first preview of the new online service AECBOM.com, which will be expanding OpenBOM services for the AEC industry. The new service is a partnership between OpenBOM online platform and VIMaec – a real-time platform for building environments. In this article, I want to give you an update on OpenBOM’s add-in for Autodesk Revit and online visualization service VIMaec.

AECBOM is an online platform to manage structured information for construction projects.  It is also a way to collaborate between companies involved into construction projects – General contractors, architects, engineers and sub-contractors. OpenBOM Add-in for Autodesk Revit allows you to provide a service to extract Autodesk Revit information and store it in openbom.com online service for collaboration, reporting, and visualization.

Introduction Autodesk Revit Add-in for OpenBOM

Autodesk Revit Add-in for OpenBOM is installed in Autodesk Revit and provides a way to configure and extract a Bill of Quantities for different types of Autodesk Revit object instances and family types. In the screenshot below you can see how OpenBOM Add-in for Revit can be configured with an OpenBOM online account.

Settings allow you to configure what information will be extracted to create an online report in OpenBOM.

Once, information is extracted, it can be accessed using the OpenBOM web application for browsing, searching, visualization, and exporting to multiple formats – Excel, CSV, PDF.

Online reports can be shared with other project members and/or exported to Excel and other data sources. Here is an example of a Bill of quantities online.

The information can be easily exported to Excel and other files.

The information extracted from Autodesk Revit can be used in other functions of OpenBOM combined with the information coming from other MCAD and ECAD products and used for coordination of procurement activities with trade contractors.
