VIDEO BLOG: Seamless CAD integrations and new OpenBOM features for Autodesk Fusion 360

In my video today, I want to talk about CAD integrations and OpenBOM. The importance of seamless integrations between CAD and BOM management environments such as OpenBOM is hard to underestimate. Because of the moment of time, you will start using it, you will save tons of time.

You can think, BOM is not a big deal. You can just export data to Excel and deal (BOM) is done. This is a point of huge mistake. Because even each CAD system can extract Excel, today it is not enough. It is very easy to expo and Excel one time, but then changes will come and communication between purchasing and engineering will be cold at its best. Excel modification will become a source of your next nightmare

Additionally, it is very important to be able to tune the data coming from CAD especially. In my video, today, I will show you new two features in OpenBOM for Autodesk Fusion 360

  • Purchased assembly
  • Exclude from BOM

Both absolutely important and it gives you tons of power at OpenBOM to work on future adjustment of CAD models.

Conclusion

OpenBOM unique value proposition is absolutely seamless CAD integrations capable to tune to specific data characteristics and guarantee the output of BOM that can be easily shared and coordinated between team members and contractors.

The data extracted to OpenBOM is live and can be merged with updates that come from CAD systems at any time.

There are tons of integrations with OpenBOM available. Check more about OpenBOM out of the box CAD integrations here
