Preview – OpenBOM integrated file storage

I want to give you a very first preview of the OpenBOM integrated storage function. We’ve been around the decision to provide OpenBOM storage for quite some time. OpenBOM integrates with any cloud storage system out of the box (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, etc.). While it is no brainer decision to connect to one of available cloud storage these days, we’ve been getting many requests to support an out of the box function to store a File connect to Part of BOM records.

We decided to bring it to OpenBOM. In the coming new release OpenBOM, you will be able to upload a file and connect it to OpenBOM reference property.

The function is straightforward – select a file, put optional display value and update. Boom… the file will be uploaded to OpenBOM and become available via the link.

Check the following video to have an idea of how it will work.

Conclusion

OpenBOM integrated cloud storage will allow a simplified mechanism of attaching files to Part and BOM records. It is simple and powerful. The current implementation is just a first step and I look forward to your comments.

Let’s get to know each other better. If you live in the Greater Boston area, I invite you for a coffee together (coffee is on me). If not nearby, let’s have a virtual coffee session — I will figure out how to send you a real coffee.
