PREVIEW: Onshape “exclude from BOM” support

The support of seamless information flow is one of the most important features when it comes to integrations between engineering and enterprise systems. Each time you eliminate the need to copy and paste data, you eliminate the chance of a mistake, and hence the quality of data grows. This leads to fewer mistakes, fewer chances of missing something, ordering the wrong quantity, or creating the wrong BOM.

OpenBOM CAD Integrations strategy

At OpenBOM, we are laser-focused on providing smooth and seamless integrations between systems. We developed many integrations with CAD, PDM, ERP, and other systems. OpenBOM captures the data in the most seamless way possible and sends it to OpenBOM’s cloud servers to make it available to the teams, contractors, and suppliers. It includes both options – integration with desktop CAD systems and also cloud systems.

OpenBOM for Onshape on App Store

Onshape is one of the CAD integrations that OpenBOM supports for a very long time since the first days of the Onshape app store. You can find OpenBOM on Onshape App Store and check for more videos and customer reviews.

We’re continuously working on improvements and adjustments to make data flow more intuitive and to support new features and options for Onshape integration. I’m super excited to introduce the latest improvements – support Onshape’s “exclude from BOM” flag. Starting from the current release, OpenBOM for Onshape will respect the flag.

Check the following short video to see how it works.

Conclusion

At OpenBOM, we focus on how to streamline integrations and make seamless information flow and data transfer possible. OpenBOM for Onshape is one of these examples. The integration is immersively embedded into the Onshape flyout user interface, allowing for integration with multiple Onshape features such as Onshape categories, data properties, and, now also “exclude from BOM flag”.
