OpenBOM for SolidWorks – New Integrated User Experience Is Coming

CAD systems are a source of the most fundamental information that companies are using to build products. Many product development processes are starting in CAD and therefore management and capturing of data from a CAD system is extremely important for any PLM system. Let’s be honest, to spend time capturing Items and BOMs manually from the CAD environment is extremely difficult, time-consuming, and prone to errors.

At OpenBOM we pay special attention on how to help our customers get the most seamless integration with the design environment and CAD systems. Check the list of our CAD integrations online – you can download and test them using the OpenBOM 14-days trial for free.

New Integrated Browser User Experience Is Coming

OpenBOM cloud CAD system integrations such as Autodesk Fusion360 and PTC Onshape had browser user experience from the beginning. But now, we are coming up with a new integrated user interface for all OpenBOM add-ins for CAD systems

As part of this user experience, we provide access to Items and Bill of Materials directly from the CAD user interface, which makes it extremely easy to approach and simplify the overall user experience – everyone loves integrated UX and we know that!

OpenBOM For SolidWorks Integrated Browser

Here is a heads-up on what is coming for SolidWorks. Our integration is becoming fully embedded into Solidworks browser right panel user interface. It will include two important functions:

  • Browser-based user interface showing data about BOMs, Items, and related information
  • Contextual navigation allows seamlessly seeing only the BOM for a specific assembly

Altogether, we expect the new user interface to be more user-friendly and allow Solidworks users to have a new user experience in which they don’t need to spend time looking for the BOM and can get it immediately on the browser screen.

VIDEO Demo

In the following video, we made a brief preview of what is coming.

Conclusion

The upcoming new embedded browser for all OpenBOM CAD add-ins is a very cool improvement to the user experience. We’ve got very positive feedback and look forward to bringing it to production very soon. I hope you will like it. Sign up today and get access to your FREE 14 Day trial today.

Best, Oleg
