OpenBOM 101: Change history, revisions and change approvals process

Today, I want to give you a quick review of how OpenBOM can help you to keep track of change history, revisions and also manage changes using approval mechanism,

In the following video, you can see the OpenBOM automatic history track as well as the mechanism to create a revision (an immutable baseline of the BOM)

Change History – OpenBOM automatically captures all changes you do in the catalog(s) and Bill of Materials. It allows you to record everything and have track of what was done. Moreover, OpenBOM allows you to create a “Revision”, which is a historical snapshot of the Bill of Materials at this moment, which includes all data about items and usage of the items in the product structure. It is done for every individual level independently. You can save religions, switch between revisions (read-only), and generate the report to show the difference between BOM revisions.

Watch the video to demonstrate these features.

In addition to tracking history and revisions, OpenBOM company subscription allows organizing the change process, which includes Change Request, Change Review, and Change Approval mechanism. This feature allows controlling who and when can create a revision for each specific Bill of Materials.

Check the video with a simple change request, review, and approval steps.
