Introducing OpenBOM’s New Feature: Automatic Item QR Code Generation

In today’s digital age, the ability to seamlessly connect and identify items is crucial for efficient operations and effective data management. As businesses continue to evolve, the demand for innovative solutions that enhance digital connectivity has never been greater. At OpenBOM, we are committed to meeting these needs by continuously enhancing our platform with features that drive efficiency and productivity.

One of the most frequently requested features by our customers has been the ability to generate QR codes for items in their catalogs. Listening to our customers’ feedback is at the heart of our development process, and we are excited to announce the upcoming release of Automatic Item QR Code Generation in OpenBOM.

Here is a quick summary and some examples of what this new feature will allow you to do (please note, it is activated automatically and doesn’t require any special setup)

Automatically Generate QR Codes for Each Item

With this feature, QR codes will be automatically created for every item in your OpenBOM catalog, eliminating the need for manual generation and ensuring consistency across your items.

Provide a New Navigation URL for Each Item

Each QR code will link to a unique navigation URL, allowing for quick and easy access to specific items within your OpenBOM catalog. This will streamline the process of locating and managing items, making your workflow more efficient.

Navigate by QR Code and Support Mobile Browsers

The new feature will support mobile browsers, enabling users to navigate directly to an item’s interface via its QR code. This mobile-friendly approach ensures that you can access item information on the go, enhancing flexibility and convenience.

Conclusion

The Automatic Item QR Code Generation feature is a powerful yet simple addition to the OpenBOM platform. It will empower users to create a digital connection between various elements of their digital factories, facilitating seamless integration into the OpenBOM environment. This feature will be available in the next OpenBOM upgrade in August, and we are confident it will significantly enhance your digital operations.

Stay tuned for more updates and thank you for being a part of the OpenBOM community!
