HEADS UP – New OpenBOM UI/UX Is Coming…

Heads up. I wanted to share some news about the coming improvements in OpenBOM user interfaces. Over the course of the last few months, we’ve been talking to many OpenBOM customers that asked us to put an additional focus on OpenBOM graphic design and user experience. We realize that some of the work we did on the design couple of years ago is outdated and we added many new features that made OpenBOM user interface and user experience less intuitive than we want. 

So, here is the news – we are working on a new OpenBOM user interface, graphic design, and user experience. In a spirit of openness, which is the foundation of OpenBOM vision and value belief, I would like to share a few early sketches. More to come. 

The new user experience will be coming gradually. The first thing you will see is a new graphic user design of our web interface. Later we focus on our embedded user interface in CAD add-ins, which will be also streamlined and simplified. Some of these improvements in UX (user experience) already visible in OpenBOM add-ins (eg. Fusion360 add-in). 

Conclusion

Simplicity is hard and so the work to make the user interface and user experience simple and intuitive. We’re thankful for all feedback you provided us – together we will make OpenBOM better. Stay tuned for the updates.
