Autodesk DevCon 2023, and OpenBOM Autodesk Platform Services (APS) Integrations

OpenBOM has been partnering with Autodesk since the very first OpenBOM production release. We deliver integrations with Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk Inventor which are available via Autodesk App Store.

I’m super excited to attend Autodesk DevCon 2023. The story of OpenBOM goes a long way back to the first Autodesk DevCon in San Francisco where we presented the first prototype of OpenBOM.

And I’m happy that Autodesk DevCon is coming back to San Francisco this year.

Autodesk DevCon 2023

Autodesk DevCon 2023 is an event for software developers and business innovators to learn about leading-edge technology from Autodesk experts. You have an opportunity to network with other developers and business leaders and see how our desktop APIs and cloud-based Autodesk Platform Services (formerly Forge) can power your company’s growth and digital transformation.

You can register for the event using this page – Autodesk DevCon 2023 San Francisco.

OpenBOM and Autodesk Platform Services (APS)

At OpenBOM, we are actively using Autodesk Platform Services (formerly known as Forge) to deliver better connectivity with product and design data managed by Autodesk applications. Although OpenBOM is already using Autodesk Platform Services (APS) to extract data in the OpenBOM Fusion360 add-in, we are preparing something new and exciting – a browser-based integration between OpenBOM and APS connecting to different types of data.

For manufacturing and design, we’re connecting to Fusion360 product data and Fusion360 Electronics using Fusion360 Data API.  We are also connecting to other sources of product data using Autodesk Data Exchange (for example you can get data from Autodesk Inventor).

However, we are bringing seamless integration with Autodesk Platform Services (APS). Check the following two examples and articles.

Here is an early preview of Autodesk Fusion360 integration.

And also AECBOM with an early preview of Autodesk Revit Integration (including Autodesk Construction Cloud)

Check more about OpenBOM development for Autodesk Platform Services in these articles – A Preview of OpenBOM’s New Integration with Fusion 360 Using Autodesk Platform Services and another article related to Autodesk Revit – AECBOM for Autodesk Revit Using Autodesk Platform Services (formerly Forge) – OpenBOM.

OpenBOM Customer Stories Using Fusion360

Read a few stories about common Autodesk and OpenBOM customers using integration.

OpenBOM is offering its services to customers through the Autodesk App Store, greatly simplifying the process of downloading, registering, and using OpenBOM applications. Furthermore, the forthcoming web-based interface with APS will provide an even more user-friendly experience.

Conclusion:

OpenBOM traditionally provides seamless integration between OpenBOM products and Autodesk services and applications. With the growing capabilities of Autodesk Platform Services (APS), I can see how OpenBOM will be able to better serve different customers by providing new types of integrations and data handover, which is getting easier and simpler every day.

I look forward to catching up with the Autodesk APS team soon. In the meantime, register for OpenBOM to realize the advantages of OpenBOM integrations and how it helps customers to manage their projects.
