OpenBOM + Octopart: Making Online Data Sources & Supply Chain Connections A Reality

Our most recent OpenBOM production update introduced quite a few new functions -one of the most prominent ones being – Integration with Octopart.

The function is the next step in OpenBOM plans to connect to online data sources, which is part of our strategy to support the agile and connected supply chain.

Keeping Up With The Times

Modern realities of manufacturing, supply chain, and distribution can easily put your company out of business in the blink of an eye.

Getting ready for challenges and preparing your business with the technologies that can help reduce stress, improve profitability and provide transparency to management to make major decisions is key.

We’ve seen an increased demand for BOMs to support electronics design and PCB manufacturers. Our users and customers were speaking about getting up-to-date online information about various electronic components. That is why we established partnerships with Octopart, the leading provider of online access to electronics component information.

How Do I Get Access?

Currently, you can enjoy the Octopart access directly from the OpenBOM Add-Item catalog command. It will give instant data retrieval, search and many other functions allowing the use of Octopart features inside OpenBOM.

Take a quick tour of new features here:

OpenBOM For Octopart BETA Status

Beta status will allow all OpenBOM users to get access to Octopart features and functions. As we move forward, Octopart integration will be available via one of the OpenBOM subscriptions. Stay tuned for future announcements and news.

Conclusion

By investing in SaaS data management systems, flexible data connection with contractors and suppliers, OEMs can achieve supply chain agility and transparency. OpenBOM connection with Octopart is the first step in creating live connections in the supply chain with real-time information updates.

If you’re using Octopart in your business, please contact us and let us know about your needs. We are planning to introduce additional features in Octopart-OpenBOM integration and make them available from OpenBOM.

Best, Oleg @ openbom dot com.
