NEW: OpenBOM App Extension For Onshape

I’m very excited to give you an early preview of what is coming for OpenBOM Onshape customers – OpenBOM App Extension for Onshape. OpenBOM has a completely integrated product with Onshape for the last three years. We gathered a lot of information and experience working with manufacturing companies using both Onshape and OpenBOM.

We’ve been partners with Onshape and provided OpenBOM on Onshape App Store and, therefore we are very excited about the new Onshape infrastructure allowing us to streamline the integration between Onshape and OpenBOM – we had so many requests about such an enhancement from all our customers. A new Onshape integration infrastructure gives us a contextual way to integrate with different Onshape objects – Assemblies, Part Studios, Documents.

In addition to new user experience OpenBOM will provide a few very important product enhancements:

1- OpenBOM will be available as an “App Extension” in the Onshape Information panel contextually for all Onshape documents and object types.

2- Bill of Materials will become contextually create for workspace, versions, and released assembly, which allows you to better control the process of BOM creation and updates.

3 – Additional Onshape features such as composite parts and assembly configuration will be supported.

Below is a quick video with the demo that can give you an idea of what is coming.

Conclusion

OpenBOM for Onshape will be improved significantly also by providing a new user experience, user interface, and new features and functions to create BOM contextually with selected objects in Onshape as well as supporting features like assembly configurations and composite parts.

Stay tuned. If you’re interested to become early testers of the product, please contact me directly oleg at openbom dot com.
