New Online Training – OpenBOM Basic Data Management

Data is a center of any modern manufacturing company. Therefore, we’ve been building the OpenBOM data management platform as a foundation of everything we do. At the same time, we didn’t want to overwhelm our customers and we wanted to bring the most simple user experience paradigm possible, which is, of course, Excel. As a result, OpenBOM is a combination of a very sophisticated data management platform using multiple databases, building semantic data layers on top of multiple data objects and silos. At the same time, it is a simple collaborative user experience allowing our customers to build data objects and work together in the most efficient and simple way possible.

OpenBOM Data Management Basics

It is important to understand OpenBOM’s data management platform. Therefore, it was not a coincidence that we’ve been working on how to help you learn about OpenBOM data management. The new OpenBOM Training Course, which I’m excited to introduce to you – OpenBOM Basic Data Management. The course covers basic elements: data management platforms, items, objects, relationships, views. Check this out and learn how powerful and flexible the OpenBOM platform is. You will learn about OpenBOM core objects – catalogs, BOMs, Planning BOMs (Order BOMs), Purchase Order, and Vendor. Also, you will learn how to enhance OpenBOM’s object model by new properties, types and how to get access to the data via OpenBOM views.

An important element of OpenBOM data architecture is a notion of a single source of truth combined with multi-tenancy.

A Single Source of Data.

OpenBOM is a SaaS network-based global collaborative platform that manages product data and connects manufacturers with their customers, contractors, and suppliers. In short, OpenBOM helps companies organize product information into a single source of truth and enables a new level of collaboration between teams and companies.

OpenBOM “connects the dots” and optimizes the processes between multiple organizations, contractors, and suppliers.

Multitenancy

The core of OpenBOM is a global, multi-tenant flexible data model. It provides an easy way to organize product data records (extract, integrate, and manage revisions, changes, history, and other information). The data organization is flexible and allows changes to data in real-time. The administration of rights is distributed based on access levels.

Data Model Flexibility

The fundamental of OpenBOM at its core is a flexible data model that allows you to build different object types and semantic relationships. It is combined with predefined data objects and behavior that allows users to quickly start using OpenBOM to manage data or extract data from multiple data sources and systems and store it in OpenBOM. Learn more about core OpenBOM data objects – catalogs, BOMs, Orders, Vendors, Purchase Orders, and also custom objects and properties and how to extend OpenBOM data behaviors.

Conclusion

OpenBOM foundation is a flexible data model combining elements of single data source, multi-tenancy, and data model flexibility with real-time collaboration and data sharing. OpenBOM’s patented BOM collaboration method and built-in data objects allow users to start using OpenBOM instantly as a SaaS and integrate with many systems and data sources.
