It is also important to align your implementation strategy with your business order type, whether it is engineer-to-order (ETO), mass discrete manufacturing, or configure-to-order (CTO). Each type has different requirements for speed, delivery, and design control. I have witnessed many cases where companies use the same software implementation approach for different business types, resulting in inefficiencies and frustrations.

Time wasted waiting for new Part Numbers
