How to Learn More About OpenBOM – New Best Practices Training

OpenBOM has been growing significantly for the last few years adding new features and capabilities. What began as a few commands on a single screen has now evolved into a comprehensive suite of tools and services.

These include PDM capabilities, multi-disciplinary BOM management, xBOM for tracking BOMs across the lifecycle, inventory, procurement, and powerful customization features. With each monthly release, new features and functions continue to enhance the platform, helping companies streamline their product lifecycle and data management.

The Challenge of Keeping Up with Updates

Training and knowledge sharing have always been a priority at OpenBOM, but with weekly releases and continued improvement, it was challenging for us to keep up.

Between new monthly features and continuous improvements, our users often find themselves in need of up-to-date guidance. We’ve offered a variety of resources. Here are some of them with links – Training Library, YouTube channel, Blog, and Community, but we understand that we need to provide more.

Introducing Our New Best Practices Training Resources

I’m excited to share with you a new resource that we’ve just introduced: Best Practices Training. This is a collection of step-by-step instructions written with the vision to help users learn OpenBOM more effectively. All you need to do is just follow the guide step-by-step. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to master a specific feature, these best practices provide the guidance you need.

Main Groups of Best Practices

The Best Practices Training is organized into key categories to make it easy for users to find relevant instructions. Here’s a quick overview of what you can expect:

  1. Introduction – Getting started with OpenBOM and understanding the basics.
  2. Administration – Setting up your workspace, users, and permissions.
  3. Basic BOM Functions – Creating and managing BOMs effectively.
  4. Visualization – Exploring how to view and interact with your data.
  5. Formulas – Using formulas to enhance BOM data.
  6. Search – Finding the data you need with powerful search capabilities.
  7. Change Management – Managing changes and ensuring data accuracy.
  8. And many others – As we continue to expand this library, you’ll find guidance on procurement, inventory management, xBOM, and more.

Where Do We Go From Here?

We look forward to improving it even more. Our next step is to produce a new set of “How-To” product videos. While the current Best Practices are more focused on written step-by-step instructions, these new videos will offer visual guidance, making it even easier for users to follow along.

We believe this combination of written and video content will provide the comprehensive learning experience our users need. If you have ideas on how to improve training and educational materials about OpenBOM, please reach out to us.

Conclusion

At OpenBOM, training and knowledge sharing are central to our passion and vision. We believe that making tools easily accessible and sharing knowledge openly will help drive adoption and improve the overall user experience.

We invite you to try OpenBOM for free and explore our new Best Practices training resources. Let’s continue to grow together and unlock the full potential of OpenBOM.Best regards,
Oleg
