Heads up OpenBOM integration with Altium Designer Improvements

Products are getting more complex these days. With an increased demand for high-tech electronic, smart devices and IoT, the number of electromechanical products and products with embedded PCB is skyrocketing.

OpenBOM is not for mechanical design product only. We took some for the last few months to think about how to improve our integrations with ECAD and PCB design tools. The first part of this work will be improved OpenBOM – Altium Design integration.

The integration will include support for OpenBOM libraries. You will be able to create OpenBOM catalog directly from Altium Designer. It will align Altium Design integration features with full catalog-BOM functions of OpenBOM available today.

This is an early preview of our work. In the video below, you’re going to see how OpenBOM new Altium integration can be used together with Solidworks integration when you create a multi-disciplinary Bill of Materials.

Conclusion.

In the next few months, we will be expanding a lineup of our ECA/PCB design applications. An updated Altium plug-in will be soon available from Altium app store. Meantime, if you have questions, please contact me directly. I’d be happy to discuss Altium Designer features together with you and check how it stands against your requirements.

Talk soon.

Best, Oleg

PS. Let’s get to know each other better. If you live in the Greater Boston area, I invite you for a coffee together (coffee is on me). If not nearby, let’s have a virtual coffee session — I will figure out how to send you a real coffee.
