WEBINAR: Multiple Bill of Materials

The magic names such as EBOM, MBOM, SBOM, and others are standing for a specific domain of knowledge — engineering, manufacturing, planning, supplier, etc. Sometimes, you can hear XBOM, which literally means any BOM. The division is logical (based on people’s role) and often system data siloed — CAD, PLM, ERP, etc.

The recommendation of all vendors (CAD, PLM, ERP) is to use their system to manage Bill of Materials and make it a central system to manage all BOMs. The recommendation is obvious. However, my hunch is that the problem is bigger than it presented by vendors developing systems producing and requesting data about BOMs. The complexity of integration, implementation legacy and variety of requirements are creating a very complex application space to manage.

In this webinar, I’m focusing on the root cause of the conflict and need to manage multiple Bill of Materials. I’m bringing examples of how it can be done and how to find a right solution for your organization.

Come to any manufacturing company and ask them how many BOMs do they use? Then take a pause and get ready to listen… because you will discover so many flavors and opinions. Multiple Bill of Materials is a reflection of organizational needs, the level of maturity of company processes, people’s behaviors and culture. This webinar will help you to navigate between company needs, technologies, and people’s behaviors.
