Frequently Asked Questions
OpenBOM pricing is based on two independent dimensions:
- Who uses OpenBOM (user & role-based licenses)
- How much product data you manage (data records)
These dimensions scale independently, so you only pay for what you actually need.
Editors can create, modify, and delete data in OpenBOM. Editors also participate in different processes – create revisions and approach change orders. Read-only users can view all shared data but cannot make any changes.
Only editors require a paid seat. You can invite unlimited free read-only users, including internal team members, suppliers, and partners.
No. Only users who edit or manage data need a paid seat. Read-only users are always free.
Data records are the unique items you manage in OpenBOM, such as:
- Part numbers (items defined in catalogs)
- BOM records (each line in your BOM)
- Primary CAD (files stored in OpenBOM Design Projects)
This is how OpenBOM measures your product data footprint. OpenBOM counts the total number of data records.
No. Revisions, versions, and derivative files do not count toward your data record total. Only unique primary records are counted.
You can maintain a full revision history without additional cost.
OpenBOM is primarily a data management system for items, properties, records, and BOMs. Files can be attached to records, but pricing is based on data records, not file size or storage activity.
OpenBOM uses an integrated billing system using Stripe infrastructure. You can pay by:
- Credit card (online)
- Invoice and bank transfer
