Autodesk Inventor – The Go-To Tool For 3D Mechanical Design

If you’ve checked out some of our previous blogs you’ve probably already heard that OpenBOM is an Autodesk partner that provides a comprehensive set of features that integrate seamlessly with OpenBOM.

OpenBOM integrates with Autodesk Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Eagle, and Autodesk Forge…Just to name a few.

Today’s Focus…Autodesk Inventor

Today, I’d like to take a minute and discuss Autodesk Inventor and how OpenBOM has found a way to work side by side to deliver a great user experience to all the mechanical designers out there.

OpenBOM integrations include the following capabilities:

  • Extracting data from Autodesk Inventor including metadata, geometry, and preview
  • Support multi-level, part list and flattened BOM
  • Uploading 3D Files and Drawings to OpenBOM connected cloud storage (eg. Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.)
  • Support for purchased assembly & part workflows, include/exclude items from BOM and more

OpenBOM also allows you to create an accurate BOM, prepare a part list for Purchase Orders, make a cost, mass roll-ups, and much more.
